It is our desire at Melbourne School District to keep the communities informed about the progress on the construction of the new high school facility. Ground Breaking Ceremony

The ground breaking will be conducted on the new building site on May 2, at 10:00 a.m. The ceremony will include a few brief words from Senator Paul Miller, Representative Eddie Cooper, County Judge Rayburn Finley, Sheriff Tate Lawrence, Mayor Mike Cone and Ozarka President, Dr. Dusty Johnston. The main focus of the day is the students and the future of the District. The ceremony will conclude with students from the Melbourne and Mount Pleasant campuses shoveling the first dirt that is moved on the new site. It would be best to enter the property by way of the Boeing driveway and continue on past the water tower. Everyone is invited to attend. Ground Breaking Planned

An official ground breaking ceremony is planned on the site of the new building on Tuesday, May 2 at 10:00. Everyone is invited to attend. More specific plans will be posted at a later date.

Water Relocation Bid Awarded


The School Board in regular session on Monday night accepted the the water relocation bid from Jowers Construction from Blytheville in the amount of $39,824. This work will be coordinated with the excavtion work. The Board also reviewed the final plans for the construction of the new building with Bob Bailey, architect. Water Relocation Bids Accepted

The architect accepted four bids on the water relocation project. The four bids are: Gilmore Inc, Batesville - $53,200; Hargan Const. Desha - $58,000; Jowers Const. Blytheville - $39,824; White River Const. Russell - $48,980. The board will consider the bids on Monday night and award a contract. Also, the architect was on site today taking measurements for the sewer system.

Water Relocation Bids

The architect confirmed today that several bidders have picked up specification packets and expressed interest in bidding on the water relocation project. The project will consist of relocating a six inch water line that runs across the property and installing a fire protection system. The bids are scheduled to be opened on April 19 at 2:00 p.m. in the office of the superintendent.

Water Relocation Specifications


We received the specifications today from the architect on the water relocation and fire protection project. This project will be integrated with the existing city water system on the location. These specifications will be used for bids that will be opened on April 19 at 2:00 p.m. in the office of the superintendent. Pictured is Coy Dale and and Warren Smith inspecting the blueprints.
