It is our desire at Melbourne School District to keep the communities informed about the progress on the construction of the new high school facility. Excavation and Water Relocation Progress

The contractor estimates the dirt work will be completed within the next two weeks. Also, the water relocation project is about half complete and is expected to be completed about the same time the dirt work is finished. The contractor on the building construction will be meeting with the other contractors, architect, and superintendent Monday to coordinate the work as it transitions from dirt work to building erection.

Contract Awarded

The school board in special session Thursday, June 15 awarded the contract for the construction of the new high school facility to G. A. G. Builders from Cabot. The contracted amount is $9,276,000. Other bids were from Franks Construction from Mountain View for $10,633,764, Matson Construction from Little Rock for $9,960,000, and Noacon from Fairfield Bay for $9,367,987.

Bids Opened Thursday, June 15

The bids for the new building will be opened Thursday, June 15 at 2:00 p.m. in the cafeteria on the Melbourne Campus. This website will be updated as soon as bids are opened. Also, the Board of Education will meet in special session at 7:00 p.m. on June 15 in the office of the superintendent to address the bids and to possibly award a contract for construction.

Excavation Half Complete

The architect was on the job site today and estimated the excavation process to be about half completed. Jowers Construction will soon begin relocating the water lines and installing the new system on the property. Also, the bids for the building will be opened at 2:00 p.m. on June 15 in the cafeteria on the Melbourne Campus.
