Footings on Lower Level

Brown Construction has completed pouring the footings on the lower level of the gymnasium. The footings required almost 200 yards of concrete. The pictures are of the concrete being poured in the forms.

Rain Delay

Brown Construction had all the steel in place to pour the concrete Friday on the footings on the lower level. Unfortunately, the 5 plus inches of rain washed dirt into the pour area and they had to take out nearly 15 tons of steel to clean out the footings. They have completed most of the repair and should be ready to pour any day. Also, Edwards Bros. were ready to lay asphalt on the parking lot and roads. The rain put to much moisture in the base so therefore they will have to delay the asphalt until it dries out. It is expected that the area will be ready for asphalt on Monday of next week.

Concrete and Asphalt

The concrete is expected to be poured in the footings and support bases on the lower level of the gymnasium as early as Thursday. The contractors are installing the steel support in the footings and finalizing the pour. Also, asphalt is expected to be laid on the parking lot Monday morning. Pictured is the footing preparation work on the gym.

Progress Continues

GAG Construction Superintendent, Mike Caine, is very pleased with the progress of the building and grounds. Most of the topsoil has been placed in the islands inside and around the parking lot and he reports that the curbs are about 80% complete. It is expected the footers for the building will be poured this week and rock for the asphalt base will be in place by the end of the week as well. Some of the sidewalks around the parking lot will be poured in the next few days and all but one of the light pole bases are fisnihed. Also, the rough-in plumbing is approximately 40% complete. The floor in the building has a post tension system made up of cables and tension hardware to tie the whole floor system together. It has been delivered and will be installed as the floor is poured. Mike is awaiting delivery of anchors before he can continue on the wall structures. This picture is a shot of the parking lot with the islands.
